Not seen everyday: Truck full of bees buzzes through capital city
If you were driving in Carson City today, you may have seen an unusual site, and more than a few escaped pollinators. A semi-truck loaded to the hilt with bee hives was spotted on the I-580 freeway Saturday afternoon heading south.
Did you know that a single hive can hold as many as 80,000 bees, made up of workers, drones, and a queen each? Which means, by our count, that means millions of bees made their way through the capital Saturday.
Where are they headed? Who’s to say, but many bees were seen escaping along their route so many local flowers and shrubs were probably gifted some much needed pollinating thanks to our transient friends.
