Nevada governor appoints Brad Crowell director of Conservation and Natural Resources agency
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval announced the appointment Friday of Bradley Crowell, as director of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, effective Dec. 12. Interim Director Kay Scherer will resume her position as Deputy Director of the Department.
“The State of Nevada regularly works with our federal government to ensure that Nevada’s robust economic development and growth happen in partnership with preserving our gorgeous natural resources and public lands. Brad has a strong foundation in natural resource, energy and conservation management and I am confident his experience will be a benefit to the Silver State,” said Sandoval in a press statement. “I am pleased he has accepted this role and I look forward to being one of the first to welcome him back to his home state. I would also like to express my gratitude to Kay Scherer who has stepped in as Interim Director during this time of transition. Kay has been instrumental to the budget-building process and staff management and I would like to thank her for commitment to our state and dedication to the Department.”
Bradley Crowell currently serves as the United States Department of Energy Assistant Secretary for Congressional, Intergovernmental and External Affairs, a Senate confirmed position. This role includes serving as a senior adviser to the Secretary of Energy, with a focus on balancing stakeholder interests, navigating the legislative process, and managing multiple sub-agency priorities.
Crowell has served in the Department of Energy since 2010. His prior experience includes time working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and for the National Resources Defense Council. Upon graduation from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, Crowell began his professional career in the Senate office of former Nevada Governor and United States Senator, Richard Bryan. Crowell is a native of Carson City and is the son of Susan and Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell.
