National Weather Service: Wind, rain to continue through Sunday in Carson City
Wind gusts and periods of heavy rainfall are forecast for Carson City and Northwestern Nevada areas, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno reports.
Conditions will be breezy Sunday around Carson City with gusts up to 50 miles per hour (mph) and sustained winds around 25 mph, according to the NWS.
There is a 100 percent chance of precipitation Sunday, the NWS reports, with new rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half-inch possible.
Precipitation totals from midnight Friday to Sunday morning in the Carson Valley have been recorded at more than eight-tenths of an inch, the NWS reports.
At Davis Creek County Park in Northwestern Washoe Valley, rainfall amounts have totaled nearly three inches since midnight Friday, the NWS said, and Galena record 1.72 inches since early Friday morning.
While copious rainfall around the region has aided firefighters in their efforts to contain multiple wildfires, there remains a threat of potential flood from the precipitation with standing water on roadways and debris flows from burn areas.
Motorists are advised to use caution on wet roadways, and to avoid areas near the fires.
The high temperature today is forecast for around 60 degrees and the low overnight about 40, the NWS reports.
Rain and a possible thunderstorm are forecast for Sunday night with rain turning to showers overnight into Monday morning. Conditions will be breezy this evening with a sustained southwest wind at 20-25 mph and gusts up to 45 mph.
