Pioneer High School JAG students honored with ceremony at Governor's Mansion
On Thursday evening, Pioneer High School JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) students participated in their annual Initiation and Installment Ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion.
The JAG program at Pioneer High School has made positive changes since its implementation just a few years ago. The JAG program teaches life skills to students and allows them to learn skills such as public speaking, taxes, how to apply for scholarships, car loans, and of course, resumes and cover letters, among many other topics.
The Initiation and Installment (I and I) ceremony inducts new members and installs newly elected officials with peers, family members, and mentors in attendance.
Program goals are presented, and each year students choose a keynote speaker for the event.
This year, the keynote speaker was Pioneer High School's previous Special Education teacher Tanya Watts.
In both 2017 and 2018, 100 percent of Pioneer High School seniors enrolled in JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) graduated.
In 2017, 88 percent of JAG students with attendance issues showed improved attendance. Also, 85 percent of JAG students with disciplinary issues improved disciplinary events. These are just a few of the many benefits that the JAG program has provided for students at Pioneer High School.
