Local Carson City rotarians to discuss international efforts at Oct. 12 meeting
Improving the lives of those less fortunate around the globe is the core mission of Rotary International.
In alignment with the organization’s motto, “Service over Self”, Rotary provides humanitarian aid to some of the world’s most under-developed nations.
Local Rotarians and the public can learn about the club’s international focus at The Rotary Club of Carson City’s meeting Tuesday, October 12, at noon in the Grand Ballroom of the Brewery Arts Center.
Rotarian Chas Macquarie will give an overview and status of the club’s current international projects.
“Our club’s international focus is on projects that improve water and sanitation facilities in countries and communities that lack those basic resources.” He said. “Our international projects improve the health and quality of life of less fortunate communities than ours."
Macquarie will provide updates on a portable children’s' eye testing clinic in Medellin, Columbia, as well as a water project in Panama. He will also discuss potential future projects including a much bigger water and sewer project in Columbia. These projects fall under Rotary's Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Area of Focus.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the meeting. Those interested should email the club at carsoncitynvrotary@gmail.com. To learn more at Rotary International and its humanitarian efforts visit. www.rotaryinternational.org.
