Carson City arrests: Suspect accused of breaking ex-boyfriend's vehicle window with tire iron

A 19-year-old woman was arrested early Wednesday morning for suspicion of gross misdemeanor destruction of property, DUI and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Deputies were sent shortly before midnight to the 800 block of South Roop Street for a property injury report. Dispatch advised the person who who lived there had their vehicle window broken by a woman, who was identified, and was seen leaving the area in a vehicle on South Roop Street, according to the report.
Deputies arrived in the area and attempted to locate the vehicle. A deputy found it driving on Saliman Road and watched it complete a U-turn in the area of Fairview and Saliman Road.
The deputy pulled behind the vehicle and confirmed the plate with dispatch. The officer watched as the driver failed to maintain its lane of travel and crossed the lane line to the right. The officer activated their overhead emergency lights and stopped the vehicle on Little Lane and Janas Way, the report states.
The deputy made contact with the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and explained why she was stopped. The officer asked for her driver's license, registration and insurance. The woman advised her license is suspended and that she had an active warrant for her arrest, the report states.
She turned her vehicle off and put the keys on the front passenger seat. She stepped out of the vehicle, where the officer arrested her for the confirmed warrant. She was advised of her Miranda rights, which she said she understood.
The officer asked if she would talk and she said she had nothing to say. The officer told her about the broken vehicle window and she said she broke the window of her ex-boyfriend's car, the report states. She said she used a tire iron, which was in the vehicle. She gave the deputy permission to retrieve the tire iron, which they did. The victim vehicle owner was advised and stated they wanted to press charges, according to the report.
The woman was taken to jail. She admitted to drinking wine earlier in the night. She completed standardized field sobriety tests at jail and showed signs of impairment. She completed a preliminary breath test with a result of .185. She was read Nevada Implied Consent law and chose an evidentiary blood test, the report states.
She was booked for alleged gross misdemeanor destruction of property, misdemeanor DUI, driving on a suspended license and the warrant. No bail hold in lieu of hearing.

— A 37-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of DUI second offense and operating a vehicle with an interlock device.
According to the booking report a deputy observed an SUV in the area of Fairview Drive and Gordon Street that did not have functioning license plate lights. The officer activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Edmonds Drive, the report states.
As the deputy approached the vehicle they observed a case of beer in the back seat. The deputy made contact with the driver who was the vehicle's sole occupant. The man advised that his driver's window did not roll down. The officer told the man to open his door so they could speak to him. When the man opened the door, the deputy could smell an odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from the man. The officer told the man the reason for the traffic stop, the report states.
The officer asked if he had been drinking. The man said no. He said the case of beer in the back was for his friends and he told the officer he had grabbed some coconut water for himself, the report states.
The officer told the man they could smell the odor of alcohol coming from his person and asked him again if he had consumed any alcohol. The man said he had one beer approximately three hours before the traffic stop.
The deputy asked the man for his driver's license, registration and proof of insurance. The man provided the documents. The deputy was advised the man was required to have an interlock device in his vehicle for a prior driving under the influence charge, the report states.
The deputy asked the man if he would consent to standardized field sobriety tests and he stated he would. He showed signs of impairment on the tests. He consented to a preliminary breath test of .113 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI.
The man advised he did not want to consent to an evidentiary breath or blood test. The deputy contacted the on-call district attorney and on-call judge for a seizure order for a blood draw. The warrant was granted and a phlebotomist drew two vials of blood from the man's arm. Bail: $2,500.
