October Full Moon Hike up Prison Hill led by Carson City Parks and Rec this Saturday
Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space will host its October Full Moon Hike up Prison Hill on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8:30 to 10 p.m., with the trail lit by the light of the moon.
Those who are interested should meet at the new Prison Hill 5th Street Trailhead on the corner of Carson River Road and 5th Street, and make sure to bring clothing layers, water, a flashlight or headlamp, and hiking shoes.
“There are two overlooks and a couple of unique features along the trail (including a mysterious grave-like structure) that we will stop at,” said Park Ranger Aide Tyler Kerver, who will be leading the hike. “Families are welcome; if they want to bring their dogs, leashes are required.”
The hike is semi-strenuous and will be roughly one mile, but not too difficult, said Kerver.
