Carson City deputies arrest three for felony heroin trafficking
Three men were arrested Friday evening at a home in the 1000 block of Colorado Street on a variety of drug-related charges.
Deputies came to the home to serve a contempt of court warrant on Craig McDonald, 57, who reportedly lives in the home with his mother, stepfather, brother and his brother's fiancee. Deputies had received tips that the home was the site of frequent drug activity.
When the deputies arrived, they observed through a half-opened garage door McDonald sitting with two other men, Christopher Barrett, 27, of Reno, and Christopher Lloyd Ferrari, 26, of Carson City. After taking McDonald into custody for the warrant, they found 20 points (1/10th of a gram) of heroin in a baggy, 31 points of heroin in a pill bottle, and a baggy with marijuana on the floor where the men were sitting.
A search of the home found 75 hypodermic needles and assorted drug paraphernalia in the home, along with prescription drugs for which McDonald did not have a prescription.
All three men were arrested for felony heroin possession and trafficking, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. McDonald was also arrested for felony heroin possession for sales, gross misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, misdemeanor possession of hypodermic needles, and the misdemeanor contempt warrant.
Bail for the felony charges for all three was set at $20,000 each.
