Carson City Sheriff's Office: Juvenile in custody for alleged threats to middle school students
The Carson City Sheriff's Office reports that a juvenile is in custody for allegedly making terroristic threats involving students at Carson Middle School via social media.
CCSO says on Monday, Sept. 30 at around 8:55 p.m. Carson City sheriff's dispatch received a call in reference to social media direct messaging between students at Carson Middle School.
The directed threats were from one student to another. The suspect is alleged to have later threatened another victim by posting two social media user names, according to a CCSO news release.
After a brief investigation it was determined that the suspect was positively identified with a location in Carson City, according to the news release.
CCSO patrol deputies responded to the location and apprehended the juvenile for alleged terroristic threats. The juvenile was taken to the Carson City Juvenile Detention Center to face the felony charge.
The sheriff's office is offering thanks to the members of the community for reporting the incident. The suspect has been taken into custody. There are no outstanding suspects or further threats to the Carson City School District.
CCSO would also like to remind the community that threats towards the schools, students, faculty will be taken very seriously and immediate action will be taken. Parents and guardians, please have these conversations with juveniles that these threats of violence have real consequences.
