NHP: Two fatal accidents, stabbing kept law enforcement busy during Street Vibrations
Two traffic fatalities and a stabbing kept law enforcement busy during Street Vibrations festivities in Reno, Carson City and Virginia City, the Nevada Highway Patrol and Northern Nevada public safety agencies report.
With tens of thousands motorcyclists in the region, the good news is the numbers appear to be steady over last year, the Nevada Highway Patrol says, after it increased the number of troopers on the road for public safety and traffic measures.
Law enforcement in the region reports relatively few major crimes committed during the annual motorcycle event. The most egregious was the stabbing of a Carson City man in Sparks on Saturday night. The 23-year-old man was treated for multiple stab wounds, which were non-life-threatening.
Here is a brief overview of NHP statistics for Reno, Sparks and Carson City:
39 — Persons arrested, 21 for DUI
15 — Accidents investigated
2 — fatalities, 1 motorcyclist
8 — injury
5 — property damage only
