Carson High Athletics announces McGowan as varsity girls softball coach, Wacker to coach swimming
Carson High Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Ellise McGowan as the new head varsity girls softball coach and Adriane Wacker as the new head swim coach at Carson High School.
Coach McGowan has been the head coach for junior varsity softball team for the past year. From 2017-2019, she was an assistant and third base coach for the Wichita Pilots, a 16U competitive summer league softball team. And from 2013-2017, she was a collegiate softball player where she was a utility player, playing all eight positions on the field with the exception of pitcher. McGowan grew up in Carson City and attended CHS from 2009-2013. She played tennis, basketball and softball.
McGowan earned a bachelor’s in Sports Communication from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. She was a member of the Hispanic-American Leadership Organization and was on the dean’s list from 2015-2017. Prior to Newman University, McGowan was a student-athlete and softball captain her freshman year at Hesston College. She was also a member of the Hesston College Newspaper.
Coach Wacker has worked for the Carson City School District for nearly 11 years as an English teacher, librarian and Art teacher at both Carson High and Fritsch Elementary Schools. She grew up in Carson City and attended CHS from 1995-1999. She swam for the Carson Tiger Sharks and the Carson High School swim team. During her time on the CHS swim team, she was on a relay team that helped the girls team win state four years in a row. She also swam with UNR for one semester.
Wacker has been heavily involved with Carson Tiger Sharks and has a daughter on the local team and one on the high school team. She also has helped with the snack bar for the CHS swim team. She loves teaching at the High School and swimming is a huge part of her life. There is a likely chance you will see her swimming laps at the Carson Aquatics Center.
