UPDATE: Man dies in afternoon pedestrian crash off of Hot Springs Road
A 71-year-old man died Thursday night after he was struck by a pickup earlier in the afternoon, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
At approximately 2:50 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident at 101 Hot Springs Road in North Carson City. Although the pedestrian had been reported trapped under the vehicle, by the time officers arrived, he had been removed and was conscious and speaking. The patient was treated at the scene by fire and paramedics and transported by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center. The pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk area but there is not an electronic signal.
The 68-year-old driver of the vehicle was cited at the scene for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
At 7:49 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified that the pedestrian victim of the accident had died, said Furlong. His name has not yet been released pending notification of family.
