Second Maverik station coming to Carson City, Planning Commission says
Residents and motorists along Highway 50 East may have noticed new chain link fencing being erected on the vacant land at the corner of East College Parkway and Highway 50 East in Carson City.
Hope Sullivan, planning manager for the Carson City Planning Commission, confirmed Tuesday that the property will be occupied by Maverik, Inc., which operates hundreds of travel stops across at least seven Western states.
The Wyoming-based company will be constructing a new gas station and convenience store at the corner of one of Carson City's busiest intersections, Sullivan said.
Construction plans for the project are currently pending, she said.
The future travel stop will be Maverik's second location in the Nevada state capital. The first one opened in late 2009 at the corner of East College Parkway and Research Way.
There are also Maverik stations in Dayton and Minden.
No timeline for completion has been made yet, pending a review of plans by the city and the subsequent permitting process. The company also has not commented on the project yet.
