Carson City rescue crews called to motorcycle crash involving vehicle on Highway 50 East
Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called and a Care Flight helicopter ordered for a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon involving a vehicle in the 3500 block of Highway 50 East near Brown Street.
The crash was reported at 3:35 p.m. The motorcycle rider was taken to the Carson City Airport where he will be flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno. The rider's condition is unknown at this time.
Both east and westbound lanes of traffic along Highway 50 East are backed up. One lane of traffic is being diverted in the westbound lane off the pavement, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel. One full lane will open shortly, he added.
Motorists are advised to stay out of the area and to expect delays of traffic. The Nevada Highway Patrol has also responded and will be handling the investigation into the cause of the crash.
