Carson City sheriff’s office arrests: Pair jailed after methamphetamine found
Two were arrested Saturday on suspicion of felony drug charges after a traffic stop and canine assisted search recovered a mint can that contained methamphetamine and evidence to suggest a drug sale, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested in the 2100 block of Long Street were Keith Edward Watrous, 45, on suspicion for felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts violation of pre-trial supervision. His bail was set at $9,637
Also arrested was Angela Heather Gray, 52. She faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She was in possession of cell phones that lit up with a text message across the screen indicating a drug sale, according to the arrest report. Bail: $8,637.
In other arrests:
— A 26-year-old Carson City man, Thomas Duffy, was arrested Saturday in the 900 block of Beverly Drive on felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a parole and probation hold, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the Carson City Senior Center for an alarm activation. An officer observed Duffy on a bicycle, that didn’t have a front light or rear lights as required in night time hours.
Duffy was recognized because he has had an extensive history with sheriff’s deputies. The officer attempted to stop the man, but he began to peddle away from the patrol vehicle. The officer announced “sheriff’s office” and instructed him to stop multiple times. He was taken into custody. Located inside his backpack was a black container containing two hypodermic needles, Q-tips and a spoon commonly used to prepare drugs prior to injecting them into the body. Bail: $3,636.
— A 19-year-old Minden woman, Alisha Nicole Ross, was arrested Saturday, 10:23 p.m. in the area of East Long and Humboldt streets on felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine and heroin — and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, hypodermic needles. Bail: $3,637.
— A 47-year-old Carson City man, Thomas Hogan, was arrested Sunday, 4:17 a.m. in the area of Roop and Musser streets on felony suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and failure to use headlights.
According to the arrest report, deputies on patrol heard a car engine rev high RPMs and heard tires skidding. A deputy looked down Washington Street and saw a dark colored vehicle driving southbound on Walsh without its headlights on. The vehicle appeared to be speeding up and slamming on its brakes.
Another deputy spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, as the car began to slow down it drove onto the curb and came to a final stop with the right two front tires on the curb.
Officers made contact with the man and explained the reason for the stop. The driver was extremely agitated and interrupted while a deputy was speaking. The officer asked the man for his license, registration and proof of insurance. The man told the officer he did not have a license in his possession but did provide registration and insurance.
While the officer was speaking, the man continued to fidget with items in the car and the officer asked him each question multiple times before there was an answer. He opened the center console of the vehicle and begin moving items around. For officer’s safety the deputy asked the man to keep his hands in a location where they were visible.
The officer conducted and wants and warrants check on the man which came back clear. Due to his actions, and observation of driving patterns, the officer asked him he had used any alcohol or illegal substances. The man said he did not and agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests.
During the tests the man displayed impairment and was not able to perform the tests as instructed. He was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. During inventory of the vehicle officers found marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia in the passenger seat. The man said he had a medical marijuana card which was confirmed by dispatch. He admitted he had recently smoked marijuana and was arrested on suspicion of DUI. In 2003 he had a conviction of DUI, according to the arrest report. Bail: $20,025.
— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 5:39 p.m. in the 100 block of Empire Lane on two misdemeanor counts violation of bail conditions. Bail: $6,000.
— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 7:34 p.m. in the 4300 block of South Carson Street on suspicion of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and contempt of court. Bail: $5,000.
— A 36-year-old Silver Springs woman was arrested Saturday, 10:46 p.m. in the 1900 block of East William Street on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant out of Walker River Township. Bail; $630.
— A 57-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 6:18 a.m. in the 900 block of Beverly Drive on misdemeanor suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Bail: $1,874.
— A 52-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 2:02 p.m. in the 1200 block of East Roland Street on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant. Bail: $215.
