Job fair Friday hosted by Chamber, Carson City Health and Human Services

On August 28, 2016, Edith W. Fritsch Elementary School 8-year-old 3rd grader Chloe Woodbury announced her state service project for the Children of the American Revolution, U.S. Flag retirement bins, at a dedication ceremony of the first bin placed at the Carson City Library and attended by Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell and other elected officials and featured in local news media and on Reno television.

Following the Las Vegas shooting, the Carson City District Attorney's Office has been looking at how it can better provide support and services should a major disaster happen close to home.

The next in a series of storms should arrive in the Carson City region Wednesday bringing more in the way of wind rather than significant amounts of valley rain or Sierra snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Carson City firefighters donated nearly 200 brand new coats on Monday to students in need. Carson City School District’s McKinney-Vento Students in Transition helped identify those students who are most in need. Students in Transition are individuals who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence.

The Leisure Hour Club’s scholarship recipients and Western Nevada College will be the focus of the Club’s dinner meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Following the guidance of the state of Nevada, Carson City School District (CCSD) will be administering retroactive diplomas to all former students who qualify under the new requirements set by the Nevada Department of Education.

When gaming and tech companies unveiled a ballot measure to restructure Nevada’s power market last year, NV Energy’s response was minimal. An attempted armed robbery that happened early Sunday morning on Hot Springs Road ended with the arrests of adults and juveniles, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office sergeant said.
