Nevada Health Centers’ Mammovan to make stops in Carson City, Reno

The state administrator in charge of the agency that allowed squalid conditions to persist at homes for its severely mentally ill clients has resigned after allegations she provided false testimony at a legislative hearing earlier last week.

The days have been sunny and have me thinking of spring and flowers. In some areas the daffodils are poking up already. I miss color at this time of year. Wouldn’t it be nice to have flowers outside in December? A friend Paul mentioned that witch hazel (Hamamelis) blooms in winter, an unusual feature for a plant, especially in Nevada.

Thousands took to the streets for the one-year anniversary of the Women’s March on Saturday in downtown Reno. The event was part of a worldwide effort. Hundreds of rallies were held in Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Dallas and even overseas.

Carson City area native, Carson High and UNR graduate Rachel Lindgren was victorious Friday, winning this week's matchup on the long-running popular quiz show “Jeopardy.”

“I feel pretty darn good,” she said. “I was getting really nervous watching with everyone (at a viewing party), even though I already knew how it ended.”

A Senator defensive effort was on full display Friday night in Carson City as Carson blanked the Wooster Colts by a score of 58-29 in boys hoops.

CARSON CITY — Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval issued the following statement Friday urging the U.S. Senate to pass the CHIP re-authorization measure that was approved by the House of Representatives last night. The governor also expressed his continued support for the DACA program.

CARSON CITY — Emergency regulations aimed at curbing opioid abuse in Nevada took effect Friday when the Division of Public and Behavioral Health filed the regulations with the Secretary of State to comply with Assembly Bill 474, also known as the Controlled Substance Abuse Prevention Act.
