NV Energy's proposed $8.71 monthly electric bill hike to get Sept. 13 consumer hearing
There will be a Public Utilities Commission consumer session Tuesday, Sept. 13 for a proposed 8.12 percent rate hike for northern Nevada NV Energy electricity customers.
The proposed hike amounts to an average $8.71 a month increase for residential customers and $4.39 for small business customers.
The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada has scheduled the consumer session on Tuesday, Sept. 13, to hear public comment regarding NV Energy’s general rate application to adjust the electricity rates in Northern Nevada.
If approved by the PUCN, the new rates would begin Jan. 1, 2023.
Additionally, NV Energy filed applications for approval of new and revised depreciation and amortization rates for its electric and natural gas operations in Northern Nevada, according to the PUCN in a news release. In its application, NV Energy proposes to increase annual revenues by $88.3 million.
The consumer session is scheduled as follows:
Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, at 6 p.m., PUCN Carson City office, Hearing Room A, 1150 E. William St., Carson City.
Written comments via U.S. Mail to be addressed as follows: PUCN, Attn: Docket Nos. 22-06014, 22-06015 or 22-06016, 1150 E. William St., Carson City, NV 89701 or 9075 West Diablo Drive, Suite 250, Las Vegas, NV 89148.
Representatives from the PUCN Regulatory Operations Staff, the Nevada Bureau of Consumer Protection, and NV Energy will be present at the consumer session.
Public comment will be limited to the contents of the application and may be limited to five minutes per speaker. Hearings on these applications are scheduled to begin Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m.
