— A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday for suspicion of DUI, failure to stop at a stop sign and unlawful method of turn, all misdemeanor offenses.
According to the booking report, at around 1:10 a.m. a deputy was patrolling the area of North Carson and Park Street and observed a vehicle, traveling westbound on Park Street, that failed to stop at the stop sign prior to entering North Carson Street. The vehicle started to turn northbound onto North Carson Street and did so unlawfully by making a wide turn directly to the number one travel lane, the report states.
The deputy got behind the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at North Carson Street near Winnie Lane. The vehicle, at first, came to a stop in the middle of Carson Street. Then the deputy got on their intercom and advised the driver to pull into a parking lot. The vehicle then pulled onto East Winnie Lane and stopped, again, in the travel lane.
The deputy made contact with the driver, who identified himself. The officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle, the report states.
Prior to asking any alcohol related questions, the man admitted to have had a couple of drinks while out with a co-worker who was in the front passenger seat. The deputy had the driver step outside the vehicle. When the driver got out he advised to the officer he had a bad back and would rather just blow a breath test than complete field sobriety testing, the report states.
After getting separated from the vehicle, the officer noticed the man had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person and had red, watery eyes, the report states.
The man submitted to field sobriety testing and showed signs of impairment on the tests he complied with. He also submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .245. He was arrested and at jail agreed to a blood draw. Bail: $1,289.
