NV Energy proposes 46 cent electric bill decrease for Northern Nevada customers
The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada will hold consumer sessions Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Carson City regarding a proposed slight rate decrease for NV Energy customers in Northern Nevada.
NV Energy has filed an application with the PUCN to revise general rates charged to most electric customers. The application states that NV Energy’s preferred outcome is to reduce annual revenues by $5 million.
If NV Energy’s request is approved, the average monthly single-family residential bill for electric service would decrease an estimated 0.55 percent or 46 cents, according to a PUCN news release.
With respect to its gas operations, NV Energy did not file an application with the PUCN to revise general rates in 2020.
Based on the evidence presented in the case, the Commission may adopt rates either higher or lower than the rates proposed by NV Energy.
The consumer sessions are scheduled for: Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Hearing Room A, Public Utilities Commission of Nevada 1150 E. William St., Carson City.
Public comment at the consumer sessions will be limited to the contents of the application. NV Energy, PUCN Staff and Nevada Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection (BCP) representatives will be present at the consumer sessions. Public comments may be limited to five minutes per person. Hearings on this application start Oct. 7.
