Red Flag warning extended to late Wednesday for Caldor and Dixie fire areas, Western Nevada

Over Nevada Day weekend the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with Partnership Carson City, will be conducting alcohol compliance checks.

A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 1900 block of North Carson Street for gross misdemeanor child endangerment after his 2-year-old child went missing for at least 30 minutes, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Nevada looked OK in the first half of its exhibition basketball game Sunday with Washington.

Both teams started out hot on offense. The visiting Huskies stayed hot longer, and they went on a 10-1 run. However, the Wolf Pack roared back with a run of its own. CARSON CITY — As Nevada plans to celebrate its birthday this weekend, the Nevada Day Powwow aims to highlight the heritage that helped shape the state. While it will feature American Indian dancers from across the country and Canada, it will encompass more than native traditions.

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1975 announced Tuesday the return of Big Bad VooDoo Daddy and its Wild & Swingin’ Holiday Party that will be featured at Casino Fandango’s new Grand Ballroom on Dec. 4.

Gov. Brian Sandoval will lead this year’s Nevada Day parade as the grand marshal. “I’m overwhelmed, and I’m honored,” Sandoval said during an interview in his office. “Nevada Day is an important day to me. I love this state and appreciate this state. It’s given me everything I have.”

CARSON CITY — Las Vegas and Reno areas continued to gain jobs in September, while Carson City job growth remained unchanged for the month, according to figures released Tuesday by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

The 4th annual Rocky Horror Picture Show event is coming back to Carson City with a bang at the Brewery Arts Center on Friday, Oct. 26, beginning at 6 p.m.

Hosted by the Proscenium Players, Inc and the Brewery Arts Center, the show is all ages, free and highly entertaining.
