Nevada Highway Patrol reports fatal crash on Highway 50 near Dayton

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal crash that happened at around 5 p.m. Wednesday night on Highway 50 and Occidental Drive east of Dayton. There are two vehicles involved with two confirmed driver fatalities, according to NHP.

The eastbound lane of Highway 50 is closed near Occidental because of the crash. NHP says motorists can expect lengthy travel delays near the area of the crash and that they should find alternate routes.

There were only the drivers in the vehicles that crashed, said NHP spokesperson Hannah DeGoey. The cause is under investigation. We will update as more information becomes available.

A Carson City man was arrested in the 3100 block of Debbie Way Thursday morning for a DUI causing death warrant and failure to exercise due care warrant.

Mark Riesen was arrested after deputies were dispatched to the residence to complete a warrant service.

Both warrants were issued out of Carson City Justice Court on May 1, 2019.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Bail: $30,000

— A 40-year-old Silver Springs woman was booked on two additional warrants while in custody at the Carson City Jail.

On May 11th the Kiwanis Club of Sierra Nevada completed their first Adopt-A-Trail clean-up at Carson River Park.

The group walked from the parking lot to the fishing pier, focusing on micro trash along the trail and in the parking lot.

There was an altercation between two members of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners on Thursday at a meeting in Stateline at Lake Tahoe.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office reports Thursday night that a brush fire has forced the closure of Foothill Road and Muller Lane. CARSON CITY — One Army Reservist was killed and four Nevada Army National Guardsmen were injured in a military vehicle rollover accident during training early Wednesday morning at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, Louisiana, according to a Nevada State Public Affairs Officer for the Nevada National Guard.
