Carson City arrests: Deputies find guns, marijuana after search warrant issued

A 46-year-old woman and her 17-year-old son were arrested early Saturday, each facing drug and weapons charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Cherie A. Borst was booked for suspicion of being a person prohibited from being in possession of firearms, possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor abuse or neglect of a child, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

Her 17-year-old son was also arrested on suspicion of three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, possession of paraphernalia and possession of more than 1 ounce of marijuana, a gross misdemeanor.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a Rawhide Drive residence at 12:26 a.m. Saturday for a domestic dispute. Officer spoke with the man who said he was separated from his wife and believed she stole his wallet Friday morning which had $1,500 cash in it. He went to her residence on Rawhide with two others at 12:15 a.m. Saturday to retrieve his wallet, the man told deputies.

He said there was an argument and that their 17-year-old son came out of the home with an AK47 and pointed it at him. The father said he walked away as his son pointed the weapon at him and two others, saying he was going to kill them. The three went down the street and called 911, the report states.

At the residence, officers advised the mother and son exited the home, with one person believed to still be inside and a gun that was not accounted for, the report states. Deputies checked the house for anyone hiding, and came across a locked room with the passcode. The woman provided the combination to the room and officers checked and located a marijuana grow, with marijuana plants, hydroponics, a ventilation system and lights. Deputies continued the search and it was determined no one was in the residence, the report states.

Deputies contacted the deputy district attorney and a judge who provided a search warrant to allow for the investigation of the marijuana, sales, guns, the stolen wallet and any drugs in the home. The warrant was granted. Deputies collected various paraphernalia, marijuana, 3 full grown plants, 1 marijuana plant that was drying, marijuana seeds, butane hash oil in a package, 2 handguns, 3 rifles, $900 in cash, a package of suboxone, and 12 empty prescription bottles with labels peeled off. Bail was set at $108,637, she was released Saturday after posting a $20,000 bail, according to jail deputies.
