Night in the Country's 2017 volunteer program raises record amount for area nonprofits
Organizers of the annual Night in the Country Music Festival held at the Lyon County Fairgrounds in Yerington last month say this year's fundraising efforts garnered more than $74,000 that will be distributed to 40 area nonprofit organizations.
This year through its Give and Get volunteer program, organizers of the annual country music festival will distribute the donations this Saturday at a volunteer appreciation lunch. The money raised is more than $3,000 than what was raised in 2016.
This year, there were 352 volunteers who worked more than 6,000 hours. The Give and Get program gives volunteers who devote more than 12 hours of work at the festival an $8-12 wage based on their work assignment. At the end of the festival wages are donated in the volunteer’s name to the non-profit of their choice.
Those who want to get involved in the Give and Get volunteer program and help fundraise for non-profits, can fill out a Night in the Country volunteer application at NightintheCountry.org. Applications will be open in February.
Night in the Country will return to the Lyon County Fairgrounds for the 17th year July 26-28, 2018. Tickets go on sale for the lowest prices of the year, August 28.
