Carson City's 'Not Quite Ready for Carnegie Hall Players' string ensemble begins August 31
Not Quite Ready for Carnegie Hall Players, is a program of the Carson City Symphony Association for adults who recently began to play—or returned to playing — string instruments. Weekly sessions are on Thursday mornings beginning August 31, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive, east entrance.
Participants, ranging in age from twenties to senior citizens, develop skills in ensemble music playing and performance. This year, the group is led by Sue McGarraugh, violinist-violist and string instructor with the Carson City Symphony and other ensembles.
McGarraugh said, “We invite people who want to play with a friendly, noncompetitive, welcoming ensemble. Violin, viola, cello, and bass players are welcome. NQR is a drop-in activity with no auditions and no fees, although donations and Symphony Association memberships are encouraged. We even provide the sheet music!”
For more information about joining NQR, contact Symphony Education Director Micah Dunn at 775-741-6544, or email michadunn@gmail.com.
This free program is funded in part by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, and by private donations.
