Carson City arrests: Man jailed for suspicion of sexual assault of child
A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday for a felony warrant alleging sexual assault of a child under the age of 14, 3 counts lewdness with a child under 14, and one count attempted lewdness, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Joshua Douglas Counsil was taken into custody at 7:12 p.m. in the 900 block of South Roop Street by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team. The warrant was issued Thursday. Bail: $40,000.
In other arrests:
— A 31-year-old Carson City man, Brian Glen Hofius-Ward, was arrested Friday morning in the area of Silver State and Camballeria streets for suspicion of third offense possession of controlled substance with intent to sell, second offense sale or transport of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, not having a valid driver’s license, no front plate license and a contempt of court warrant issued in May of this year.
According to the arrest report, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop for a license plate issue. It appeared the driver was attempting to lose the officer, turning into a mobile home park.
During the investigation, it was learned the man didn’t have a driver’s license and had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody. The suspect was not the registered owner of the vehicle. While preparing the vehicle for impoundment, deputies searched it with a canine and received a positive alert for drugs.
Deputies located several drug related items in the vehicle, including a plastic container with 20 to 40 alprazolam pills that he did not have a prescription, a digital scale, 10 hypodermic devices, marijuana in a plastic bag under the driver’s seat, a small bud in the driver’s door handle, two cell phones and a “pay/owe” sheet used to track drug sales and transactions, the arrest report states.
The suspect was read his Miranda rights, which he stated he understood. He stated he had borrowed the vehicle from a friend for two days and had been driving it. The suspect has two prior convictions for sales of controlled substances in 2011 and 2014. He also has a prior conviction for transport of a controlled substance in 2014, the arrest report states.
— A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday, 12:23 a.m. for suspicion of obstructing. According to the arrest report, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle going 38 mph in a 25 mph zone in the area of Roop and Long streets. The vehicle did not stop, and continued north on Roop to Winnie. It then turned north onto Lone Mountain where it did stop. When the officer asked the driver why he didn’t pull over, the man told him he was a new driver and was unsure of what he was doing, the arrest report states. Bail: $412.
— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday in the 3000 block of Desatoya for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery and threats. Bail: $3,739.
— A 52-year-old Carson City woman, Teresa Marjorie Molina, was arrested Thursday, 4:49 p.m. for felony suspicion possession of a controlled substance, meth, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637.
