With fire danger high and weeks of unpredictable weather that has brought thunderstorms and flash flooding to the Carson City and Carson Valley areas, the National Weather Service says more unpredictable weather systems may develop in northern and western Nevada early this week.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop Sunday over the Sierra with more widespread and stronger storms possible on Monday. These Monday thunderstorms will develop throughout the region with storms potentially becoming severe from Highway 50 north to the Oregon border, according to the weather service.
These storms could produce winds in excess of 60 mph with heavy rain, hail up to an inch, and frequent dangerous lightning. Storms will be moving quickly, but flooding will still be possible in areas where multiple storms develop, according to the weather service.
The chance for these storms will continue through Tuesday with drier air moving into the region by midweek. Go here for the forecast discussion.
