Feeding Pets of the Homeless hosts 13th nationwide 'Give a Dog a Bone Week'
Businesses will host a pet food drive at their business location and volunteers host pet food drives in their neighborhood August 7-13 ,2022 as part of the national Give a Dog a Bone Week.
The pet food and supplies collected are delivered to local food banks, soup kitchens and church pantries to be distributed to those experiencing homelessness or are low-income. All pet food and supply donations stay in the respective communities they are collected in. Find a donation location here.
“We have been experiencing increased call volume from people looking for our services: pet food and emergency veterinary care," said Genevieve Frederick, founder and president for Carson City-based Feeding Pets of the Homeless.
She also stated, “Many Pet Food Providers across the country are reaching out because their supplies of pet food are running low or are completely out. We are calling on our supporters nationwide to participate this week to help bring pet food to help their communities.”
About Feeding Pets of the Homeless:
Feeding Pets of the Homeless believes in the healing power of companion pets and of the human-animal bond, which is very important in the lives of many homeless. They find solace, protection and companionship through their pets. They care for their pets on limited resources so they themselves have less. The task, nationwide, is to feed and provide basic emergency veterinary care to their pets and thus relieve the anguish and anxiety of the homeless who cannot provide for their pets.
