Two die in skydiving accident near Minden-Tahoe Airport
UPDATE 2:55PM: The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has identified the victims of Thursday morning's fatal skydiving accident that happened near the Minden-Tahoe Airport.
The deceased have been identified as Ashlie Caceras, 43, of Lodi, Calif., and David Becker, 21, of Sankt Martin, Germany. Ashlie was the guide, David the patron, said DCSO Capt. Dan Coverley.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the initial investigation reveals the two skydivers were attached by a single harness, and appear to have participated in a tandem jump with a single parachute as part of an activity from Skydive Lake Tahoe, a commercial skydive tour business. A single harness means both divers were connected to one parachute rather than each diver having their own chute. There was a reserve chute also.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division, in conjunction with the FAA, are investigating the cause of the accident.
