Vice President Mike Pence promised that a COVID-19 vaccine is “just a few weeks away” while rallying supporters in Reno on Thursday, making a likely final pitch to Nevada voters with the election just days away.

The campaign rally and nearly 45-minute speech was held at a private hangar near the Reno Tahoe International Airport is likely to be the last major top-of-the-ticket candidate appearance in Nevada for the 2020 presidential race.

My philosophy? Ok… Maybe a few questions: After long evaluation, I have decided to write down some of my philosophy and personal thoughts, politics included, which may or may not be agreed with.

On Saturday, the Associated Press first reported that Patricia Ackerman led the NV-02 field in fundraising for 2020’s second quarter.

More than 1,000 students from across the state of Nevada competed in more than 40 medical competition events.

Carson City, NV (May 4, 2020) - In a selfie video released yesterday, Chris Giunchigliani formally endorsed Patricia Ackerman for Nevada Congressional District 2. “Chris G.”, as she is known in Nevada Democratic circles, has been active in Nevada politics since she was elected to the Nevada Assembly in 1991. In 2006, Giunchigliani was elected to the Clark County Commission. She was also president at different points of the Clark County Education Association and Nevada State Education Association.

The COVID-19 outbreak doesn't represent the first quarantine order implemented in Nevada to combat an infectious disease. Similar to COVID-19, the 1918 Influenza Epidemic spread around the world. The epidemic arrived in Nevada in the spring of 1918 and returned even deadlier in October and November that year before tapering off in the spring of 1919.

During this pandemic, I would love to think I am in fact a builder because I strive to see the best in this, because I have been helping those struggling immensely during these hard times, and because I am doing my best to help the medical professionals I know.

As many of you know, my brother, Tod Jennings, is running for Mayor of Carson City, Nevada. While this might be Tod’s first foray into politics, it is by no means his first experience with public service. And let’s be clear here, politicians are public servants. Mechatronics training in the Automation and Industrial Technology Center at Western Nevada College went international last week. Nevada System of Higher Education’s new and unique partnership with higher education institutions in the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico, began in earnest this week as a group of instructors visit WNC to participate in the accelerated Siemens Mechatronics certification program.

On Wednesday, October 16, the Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) will present a public talk, “Why Did You Choose Justin Favela?” by Nevada Museum of Art’s curator, JoAnne Northrup. The event is part of CCAI’s ongoing Nevada Neighbors speakers’ series and will take place at 5:30pm at the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

There will be an informal reception for Northrup preceding the event at 5pm. No tickets needed; the public is cordially invited.

And so it becomes our solemn duty to leverage the power of markets, contain climate crisis, and rescue our Earth Mother.

Carson City is so full of amazing history that sometimes it boggles the mind. As we have always asserted, the true history of Nevada was made right here in Carson City and from time-to-time, we are reminded of our rich heritage.

One of those reminders will be evident once again on Thursday, Sept. 12 to commemorate the Centennial Celebration of the arrival of then Lt. Colonel Dwight D. Eisenhower who joined the convoy to test the shape of America’s roads and military vehicles as part of the first U.S. Army Transcontinental Motor Convoy that started in Washington, D.C. and ended in San Francisco.

The 2019 Jukebox International Film Festival will be August 20-22 at the Bob Boldrick Theater inside the Carson City Community Center.

There are two from the Northern Nevada area who competed in this week's Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland.

Morgan Salvador, a 12-year-old 7th grader who attends George Whittell High School in Zephyr Cove at Lake Tahoe was Speller No. 284, while Morgan Bumgardner, Speller 275, is a 13-year-old Dayton Intermediate School student. He is listed as being from Mound House. Both students were, unfortunately, eliminated as they worked their way into the finals.

CARSON CITY — Las Vegas mixed media artist Antonio Gomez knows all too well the devastating effects Alzheimer’s disease can have on a family. He lost his father to it a decade ago and recently learned his mother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

No pretender, Jackson Browne returns to Tahoe on Aug. 10. An Evening with Jackson Browne will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys. Browne last appeared at Lake Tahoe on a stormy night in 2015.

Kenneth Robert Taylor passed away peacefully with family by his side in Las Vegas on Jan. 22, 2019 following a brief, unexpected illness which took him away too quickly and far too early.

Ken was born on April 7th, 1953 to John and Lois Taylor in San Francisco, CA and grew up in the California Bay area. Throughout his life, he always described himself as a "big kid", always full of adventure and making memories for his family.

Lone Mountain Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 1,700 military veterans dating back to the American Civil War.

Today they are honored this Christmas season for their service and sacrifice with Wreaths Across America, a nationwide event placing wreaths at the graves of fallen military personnel and veterans.

Veterans Day this year commemorates the 100th anniversary of World War I armistice, an agreement between the Allied Powers and Germany that brought an official end to hostilities in the "Great War."
