Carson City Sheriff’s Office crime log: Man jailed after allegedly stabbing, beating girlfriend

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of domestic battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm after he allegedly stabbed and beat his girlfriend, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Oscar Eliseo Herrera was arrested Saturday, 8:13 a.m. in the 4900 block of Highway 50 East. According to the arrest report, officers were called to Carson Tahoe Hospital for a female who had been stabbed. Sheriff’s investigators learned that at approximately 7:45 p.m. Friday the man allegedly brandished a folding knife and a machete, placing the machete to the victim's head and the knife against her temple. The suspect allegedly told the victim to call her parents and tell them she loved them. The victim called and told her mother that Herrera was going to kill her, according to the arrest report.

The man then pulled the woman’s hair and beat her with his hands to her head multiple times. The victim told detectives she put her arms up to defend her head from the man’s blows. He stopped when the victim’s sister entered the room and intervened. The victim had a stab wound on the underside of her forearm near her wrist and a stab wound on her pubic bone region. She had a large bruise on her left shoulder and multiple abrasions to her face, neck and hands.

Deputies learned Herrera was at his residence later where he arrested. Bail was set at $30,000 bondable and $3,000 cash only for misdemeanor probation violation.
