Dayton Kiwanis aims to start DHS Key Club, parents and students urged to attend meeting
Dayton Township Kiwanis is in the planning stages of re-chartering a Key Club at Dayton High School this fall and invites parents of and students attending DHS to learn more about this at its monthly meeting, Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 6:30 p.m. at Dayton Senior Center.
Key Club is a student-led organization sponsored by Kiwanis International which gives members opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels. Key Club members receive guidance and support from adult volunteers, including Kiwanis advisors, faculty advisors and district administrators.
Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students in the world. As of 2010, Key Club had 250,000 members in 5,000 clubs in 30 nations.
The Aug. 2 meeting features a forum discussion with Mike McStroul, Key Club regional advisor; April Romo, former Dayton Kiwanis Key Club advisor and Tegan Dalle Nogare, division Key Club Lt. Governor and currently a senior at South Tahoe High School, and is an opportunity for all parents students and teachers wanting more information.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Dayton Township Kiwanis is a member of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce.
