Michael Hohl Honda opens doors to Carson City kittens Saturday
New models were on display Saturday at Michael Hohl Honda on South Carson Street in Carson City.
But these weren't cars. They were kittens.
Michael Hohl Honda hosted a "Certified Pre-Owned Kitten Adoption Day" in partnership with Catmandu, a local non-profit feline shelter and rescue organization in Carson City, to help find permanent homes for homeless and rescued kittens.
Catmandu, which provides a home-like, cage-free environment for cats to help them feel safe, rescues felines from Carson City and surrounding rural communities.
The rescued animals are vaccinated, socialized, nursed back to health if they are sick, and placed in loving foster homes until they are eight weeks old. Then they are brought to Catmandu, where they await their new family to come and adopt them.
Catmandu receives no government funding, relying on donations and community support.
Potential cat parents visited the Michael Hohl Honda dealership Saturday where they could take home a new furry friend for $40. The dealership then made matching donations for each adoption to help placement fees.
The adoption fee covered a "multi-point kitten inspection," such as spay or neuter surgery, appropriate vaccines, medical checkup, behavioral evaluation, general grooming and nails. A free kitten starter kit and micro-chipping was also included with each adoption.
