Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Third battery offense leads to felony bust

A 32 year-old Carson City man was arrested late Wednesday night at 10:33 p.m. in the 2700 block of Menlo Drive on two counts of felony third-offense domestic battery, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, as well as for two outstanding bench warrants issued by the Carson City Justice Court.

According to the arrest report, Christopher Rosemann was taken into custody after Sheriff's deputies responded to a residence on report of domestic battery.

Upon arrival, deputies contacted the reporting party (RP), who said her boyfriend (Rosemann) had gotten into a physical altercation with her son, the report said.

She said Rosemann left the residence while law enforcement was en route, but he was pointed out to arriving deputies by the RP while walking away from the scene.

Carson City Dispatch ran a records check on Rosemann, who had two confirmed bench warrants issued locally, each for violation of a suspended sentence.

Deputies called out for Rosemann to stop, and he did so once officers identified themselves as law enforcement, the report said.

When questioned by deputies about what happened, Rosemann responded vaguely that there had been an altercation. He did not state any details about who the altercation was with or whether or not it was physical, the report said.

In speaking with the RP, Rosemann was reported to have grabbed her by the wrist as she was trying to leave. Then the RP's minor son stepped in between the two and Rosemann reportedly grabbed him in a bear hug, the report said, causing the pair to fall to the ground.

The RP's minor son was also questioned by deputies. He told officers he got involved to defend his mother as witnessing Rosemann grab her. The suspect then bear-hugged him and they went to the ground, the report said.

While on the ground, the minor stated that Rosemann scratched him several times on the chest. He displayed several scratch marks on his chest to deputies, the report said.

Rosemann was detained in handcuffs at that point and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. This was Rosemann's third arrest for domestic battery. He had been found guilty on two other occasions within the past seven years on the same charges. Bail: $15,000.

In other arrests:

— A 25 year-old Sparks woman was arrested Thursday evening at 5:40 p.m. in the area of North Carson Street and Winnie Lane for felony possession of heroin as well as misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, Rachael Lee Petek was taken into custody after a traffic stop was made on the vehicle she was riding in.

The vehicle was observed entering the intersection of a traffic signal on a red light before stopping.

A Sheriff's deputy stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver and Petek, the front seat passenger.

While the deputy was writing a citation to the driver, a K-9 unit arrived and performed an exterior sniff of the vehicle, the report said.

A positive alert was made by the K-9 officer, resulting in a search of the vehicle.

During the search, deputies located two large pieces of burnt tin foil and a glob of suspected heroin on one of those, the report said, located inside of a grey purse belonging to Petek.

Four totter straws were also recovered from the purse, each containing suspected heroin residue on them.

The substance found was field tested and returned presumptive positive for heroin. Petek was then handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. The driver of the vehicle was cited and released. Bail: $2,500.
