Carson City Sheriff's Night Out happening tonight at Mills Park
On Tuesday, August 2, at 5 p.m. until sundown, in Carson City’s Mills Park, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office will again host Sheriff’s Night Out, featuring every state and local public safety organization in the area.
This year marks the 19th consecutive year for the community and regional celebration of giving crime the boot out of Carson. Sheriff Ken Furlong and Fire Chief Sean Slamon invite everyone out to meet and greet the most fantastic men and women of fire and police services, as well as our military counterparts, service organizations, and non-profits giving a helping hand.
The annual celebration has taken foot in Carson City and is one of the most well attended events during the summer months. It features an array of public help organizations that will have representatives on hand to provide guidance and information for the services that they provide.
Free hot dogs and drinks, hosted by the Elks Lodge, have always been a feature attraction for the kids and families. Entertainment options are available to the kids at every booth, as well as free giveaways from the main stage area.
Sheriff’s Night Out was originally hosted in conjunction with National Night Out, a world-wide thrust to reduce crime. But in Carson City, we have taken the path that every organization, non-profit, and business associations in the community support the endeavors of the Sheriff and Fire Chief, as well as many others. As we see disasters across the country, we always look to ways to prevent them from occurring here. And, as a response, Carson City’s coordinated efforts with everyone reaching out together to help one another is at the core of prevention.
Join everyone else Tuesday evening in celebrating Carson City as a safe community with wrap-around services for anyone who is in need and everyone who works and plays in the region.
