Yes, Carl’s Jr is still coming to Carson City, though no opening date scheduled
It’s been over seven months since Carl’s Jr. was announced to be taking over the building most recently occupied by Arnulfo’s Mexican Restaurant, but since then, there’s been only crickets.
The sign announcing the popular fast food chain went up just before Christmas of last year, and while the sign is still there, it’s since become tattered and sun burnt.
According to applicant and Design Architect Miranda Brake, the restaurant is still moving through permitting.
“We are approved for the health department, just cleaning up a few things for the building department now,” Brake said.
Once that permit is completed, things should move faster as Brake said there is not much they need to do to the building to get it ready for move-in.
“There was not a lot of rehab to the property, updated a few thing to fit with the Carl's Jr. design but it was pretty straight forward since the existing building was a restaurant,” Brake said.
Since everything is dependent on permitting at this time, there is no opening date to report on. However, those Carl’s Jr. enthusiasts should be happy to know it’s still in the works and not, as some commenters suggested, an elaborate prank that involved stealing a sign from another Carl’s Jr. location and putting it on the building to dupe Carson City residents.
We will update with an opening date when it becomes available.
