'Hunger Doesn't Take a Vacation' food drive this Friday at Carson Mall
The Northern Nevada Dream Center will hold a "drive thru" food drive this Friday at Carson Mall in Carson City and are looking for donors to give food items and money to help the hungry in the community.
Millions of children rely on schools to provide meals during the year, but during the summer, many end up going hungry, including children in the Carson City community.
The Northern Nevada Dream Center's has a goal to collect 100,000 pounds of food and $50,000 to help combat hunger in our community. The July 27 event runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Dream Center is a volunteer run, non-profit organization who feed more than 1,500 people each month in local communities.
The event is sponsored by the Carson Mall and Dick Campagni's Campagni Auto Group.
The most needed items are:
Canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruit, peanut butter and jelly, chilis, stews, macaroni and cheese, rice, pasta, dinner mixes, cereals and oatmeal, boxed potato dishes, spaghetti sauce, muffin and biscuit mixes and soups.
For more information, you can visit the Dream Center's website, or call at (775) 443-4090.
