Carson City church youth groups restore the 'C' on C-Hill
Approximately 50 youth and leaders from the Clear Creek and Hot Springs Wards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spent their Tuesday evening overlooking Carson City while they restored the “C” on C-Hill.
These wards meet in the church building at the base of C-Hill, and the youth selected this service project for their weekly activity.
This was not the first time restoring the “C” for many of the youth. Pete Crossman, an incoming freshman at Carson High, said this was his fourth time restoring it, having helped with Eagle Scout projects before. “Many hands make light work,” said Crossman.
CHS sophomore Hannah Budd said “I think it’s just good in general to clean up our messes and the “C” represents Carson, so I believe it is important to fix it and make it look nice to represent and unite our city. It also helps unite our youth group and strengthen our testimony of service.”
Michelle Pedersen, the President of the Young Women organization in the Clear Creek Ward, explained: “I love the community pride of having that big ‘C’ up on our hill, and as the mom of two high schoolers and two recent graduates, I love the enthusiasm of the graduating class changing it to celebrate their accomplishment. Understandably, that same enthusiasm doesn’t always stick with them when it’s time to change it back, so I’m grateful for this amazing collection of kids that are willing to make changing it back their tradition.”
