Carson City deputies make arrests for battery, robbery and warrants

A 61-year-old woman was arrested July 11 for suspicion of robbery, battery on a peace officer and battery by a prisoner, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Kimberly Smith, listed from Madera, Calif., was taken into custody at 5:13 p.m. following an investigation. She was also booked for misdemeanor obstruction, resisting and had a felony warrant issued out of California.
According to the booking report, deputies learned the woman, on July 10, allegedly stole food orders being prepared at a store where food is prepared. The suspect left after taking food and then returned, grabbing a cup from the main register and attempted to leave without paying.
When an employee attempted to stop her, the woman pulled the employee's hair, scratching them and attempted to bite their hand. Another employee and a witness said they saw the battery and provided statements.
Deputies were advised the woman had a confirmed warrant out of California. Deputies attempted to arrest her but she resisted, pulling away. Officer attempted to get a grip on her but she continued to resist, flailing her arms. She was tasered and afterward was compliant. She was checked out by paramedics and was determined to be in good health, according to the report.
She was later positively identified by the person who was battered the prior day. The suspect was placed in a patrol car, where she spat at the officer twice before a a spit mask was placed soon her face. She then dropped her body to the ground and kicked the deputy. Bail: $30,000 for the local charges and $50,000 bail issued out of Madera County Superior Court.
In other arrests:
— A 36-year-old Carson City woman, Sarah Armstrong, was arrested July 11 for suspicion of attempted vehicle burglary.
According to the booking report, the woman reportedly attempted to take items out of a vehicle, including a car stereo. The woman told deputies she was paid under the table by some people and her job was to check VIN numbers. She stated she was a civil engineer and activist. Bail: $2,500.
— A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 13 for suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the man allegedly grabbed the victim's glasses, breaking them during an argument on July 8 and then on July 10, reportedly slapped the woman with an open hand, telling her she contaminated their house.
Officers located the man on July 13, and where he said he did not hit or slap the woman. Bail: $3,000.
— A 43-year-old Fernley man was arrested Monday, July 15 for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000 cash.
— A 37-year-old man, Belkis Maldonado, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (suspected cocaine and/or fentanyl.) Bail: $2,500.
— Two Carson City men, ages 35 and 30 were arrested Sunday for suspicion of possession of a dangerous weapon, a gross misdemeanor offense. During an investigation following a traffic stop, the men were in possession of brass knuckles. Bail: $2,500 each.
— A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 12 for suspicion of misdemeanor destruction of property and disorderly conduct.
According to the booking report, the man allegedly broke the door of an apartment and dumped trash in an alley. The reporting party was chased by the man but not battered. He signed a citizen arrest form and the man was taken into custody. Bail: $1,137.
— An 81-year-old man was arrested July 12 in the 1800 block of North Carson Street after walking naked on Winnie Lane, exposing his genitals. According to the report, the man was verbally aggressive with a deputy for asking questions and arrested for suspicion of indecent exposure, a gross misdemeanor offense. Bail: $2,500.
