All students accounted for following report of possible missing girl; Sheriff's Office still seeking info
A post is circulating social media that earlier today, the Carson City Sheriff's Office was searching for any information relating to an incident that was reported to have occurred between a middle-school aged pedestrian student and a vehicle near Carson Middle School around 7:20 a.m. Friday morning.
However, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, all students both at the middle school and nearby elementary schools and St. Teresa Catholic School have been accounted for.
"At this time we do not believe there is a missing child," Furlong said. "However, it was an important exercise; we were able to account for every student at four schools within an hour and a half."
Deputies are still looking into the altercation which was reported by a driver in the area.
The incident occurred in the area of Mountain and Fleischmann around 7:20 a.m. The pedestrian was described as a middle school aged white female wearing a white sweater and backpack. The vehicle involved in the altercation was described as a grey or blue Chevrolet SUV.
At this point in time, what type of altercation occurred between the driver of the vehicle and the pedestrian is not clear, but the reporting party was concerned for the safety of the student and worried some harm had come to her or that she had been taken.
However, all students both middle-school-aged and elementary-school-aged within the area have been accounted for, and no reports of missing individuals have been reported to the Carson City Sheriff's Office as of noon Friday.
