South Carson City McDonald's reopens with all-new look
Despite temperature warming early and quickly Saturday, a line of McDonald's fans were loving the new South Carson Street restaurant's look unveiled at its Grand Opening celebration.
The first 50 people in line were awarded one free Big Mac a week for the next year, said McDonald's Nevada Director of Operations Clayton Burns, while the next 100 customers in line after that qualified for one free McCafe per month for the next year.
Each customer was also able to spin a prize wheel for both food and non-food gifts, Burns said.
The 60-day remodel project finished around July 1, he said, giving the restaurant a fresh, all-new look inside and out.
"It's fresh and looks beautiful," Burns said. "We went throughout and took off all the older outside of the building, resurfaced with stucco and added a modernized edge all the way around the exterior," Burns said.
Inside features all new decor, including tables, seating, and flooring tile.
A new digital kiosk was also installed in the order area for customers who don't want to wait in line for traditional counter service, Burns said, along with direct kitchen-to-table food service tracked using Blue Tooth technology.
"You are going to see table service now that will feature blue-tooth table locators," he said. "You put it on your table and that's going to tell us where you are located in the restaurant so we can bring your order to you."
The all-new McDonald's in South Carson City, located at 3905 South Carson Street off Eagle Station, has seating for about 70 patrons in the dining room plus 50 more seats in the Playland area, which also features a new look.
"The Playland is most exciting to me because I've got two young kids," Burns said. "It's brand-new, state of the art, filled the coolest and best things in there."
McDonald's on South Carson Street employs about 30 part-time crew members, Burns said, along with around 20 full-time staff, including managers.
Even with the addition of direct table service staff, Burns said the new McDonald's is always continuously hiring and he encourages people interested in working for the restaurant to apply.
Business growth is what led to the remodel in the first place, Burns said, and McDonald's customers deserve all of the credit.
"We're thankful for the community, which is what makes all of this happen," he said. "It's why we were able to build this new beautiful building and have that great play land for the kids and offer all the jobs."
