Incline Village man arrested after bb gun shots fired during road rage incident
The Nevada Highway Patrol arrested a 23-year-old Incline Village man Tuesday following a road rage incident in which the suspect allegedly fired a bb gun at another vehicle, shattering a window.
The incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. when NHP troopers were dispatched Mt. Rose Highway for a road rage incident involving two motorists. It was reported the driver of a gold Ford pickup truck fired at another vehicle and shattered a window, said NHP Trooper Hannah DeGoey.
Troopers located the gold Ford pickup truck on SR-431 west of Callahan Road. The driver was identified as Yonatan Zuniga-Sanchez, an Incline Village resident.
After an investigation, Zuniga-Sanchez was arrested and charged with suspicion of assault and destruction of property. Gross misdemeanor charges are pending.
He was booked into the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office jail. A loaded black BB gun, without an orange tip, was located in the pickup truck that resembled a 9mm Beretta handgun.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is reminding motorists that these road rage incidents can often have serious or sometimes deadly results, said DeGoey.
She advised that if you observe a motorist driving aggressively, contact the Nevada Highway Patrol by dialing (asterisk) NHP from your mobile device. Do not attempt to handle the situation by yourself. If you find yourself being followed by an angry motorist, drive to a safe location.
