Carson City Fair set with live music, contests, exhibits July 25-29 at Fuji Park
Exhibits, entertainment and contests will be key features of the 2018 Carson City Fair, scheduled to open Wednesday, July 25 and run through Sunday, July 29 at Fuji Park Fairgrounds in Carson City.
Besides livestock exhibits from local youth agricultural clubs, there will be an antique tractor display, carnival with midway and rides, interactive contests and live on-stage entertainment.
Children are encouraged to enter this year's coloring contest, which will feature prizes to the finalists. The entry form can be found here to download and print, or copies can be picked up in person at the following drop-off locations in Carson City:
— The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension office, located at 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 15.
— The Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, 1870 Russell Way.
— The Carson City Library, 900 North Roop Street.
— The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 North Carson Street.
— The Nevada State Railroad Museum, 2180 South Carson Street.
Submission deadline for the coloring contest is July 18 at the drop-off locations. Entries will be displayed and voted on at the Carson City Fair. The top three finalists will receive prizes and the entries featured on www.carsonnow.org.
The Fuji Park Rodeo Arena will be turned into a stage for live music this year.
Journey Unlimited, The Tribute, which recreates the music and concert experience of the original 1980s Journey rock band, will perform on stage Friday night, July 27 from 8 to 10 p.m. David John and the Comstock Cowboys will take the stage Saturday night from 8 to 10 p.m.
Single concert tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for youth 16 and under, or a family pack is available for $45. Tickets for both concerts costs $25 per adult, $15 for youth 16 and under, or an $80 family pack.
Concert tickets can be purchased in person at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Office, located at 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 15 in Carson City; the Carson City Chamber of Commerce, 1900 South Carson Street next door to the Nevada State Railroad Museum; and the Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority, 716 North Carson Street at the corner of West Washington Street and next door to the Nevada State Museum.
Cash or check only are accepted at the Chamber and UNCE sites. Checks should be made payable to Carson City Extension. Tickets are also available for purchase online at: https://squareup.com/store/nevada-day-inc.
