Carson City traffic stop leads to arrests for meth trafficking, fourth DUI and credit card fraud
A traffic stop for speeding led to the arrest of four people Saturday night, including the driver for suspicion of drug trafficking and a fourth DUI, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team sergeant said.
Christine Racine, 37, of Martinez, Calif., was arrested in the 500 block of East William Street following a traffic stop where she was driving a vehicle that didn’t have license plates and was paced going 37 mph in a 25 mph zone on Carson Street, said Carson City Sheriff's Office SET Sgt. Daniel Gonzales. She faces charges of felony suspicion of drug trafficking, fourth DUI with a prior felony conviction, obtaining goods under false pretenses and other charges. Three men with her also faces criminal charges related to suspected credit card fraud. All four were on probation in California at the time of the arrests.
According to the arrest report, a deputy located 7.1 grams of methamphetamine on Racine’s person as well as a meth pipe. She agreed to submit to field sobriety tests and showed impairment on two of the tests. She stated she had used meth at around 4 p.m. that day and agreed to take a blood test, the arrest report states. A criminal history revealed she has been arrested and convicted for three DUIs and spent 60 months at Nevada State Prison.
Inside the vehicle officers located merchandise and also recovered nine credit cards with different card holder names on them. It was learned during the investigation that one card was used at three Home Depot locations, two in California with receipt amounts of $277.68 and $407.85 and one at the Home Depot store on Jacks Valley Road in Carson City with a receipt amount of $526.11. Numerous items from Home Depot were booked into evidence pending further investigation, according to the report.
Tyree Quardair Jones, 25, was arrested for suspicion of using an ID of another to avoid prosecution and possession of a credit card belonging to another person, both felonies and gross misdemeanor conspiracy to obtain goods under false pretenses and possession of burglary tools. He was found to have multiple stolen credit cards and a “slim jim” device that is used to open locked car doors, the arrest report states.
When a Solano County, Calif., probation card was found among the alleged stolen credit cards, Jones told deputies he had lied to him about his identity and was using his twin brother’s information, the arrest report states.
Two men, ages 18 and 30, each faces gross misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to obtain goods under false pretenses with bail amounts of $2,500. The bail amount for Jones is $15,000. Bail for Racine, which include three felonies and three misdemeanors: $61,421.
In other arrests:
— A 45-year-old Carson City woman, JD Powers, was arrested Saturday, 8:36 p.m. in the 4900 block of South Carson Street for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription and a misdemeanor warrant for violation of a suspended sentence. The woman was found to be in possession of a pill bottle with the name of another person. Inside the bottle were two pills, Lyrica, which are a controlled substance only available with a prescription. Bail: $8,000.
— A 55-year-old transient, Theresa Lynn Ward, was arrested Saturday, 10:49 p.m. in the 2200 block of East William Street for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, meth, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. They were found in a duffel bag belonging to the woman after she agreed to a search of the bag. Bail: $3,637.
— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 4:55 p.m. in the area of Edmonds and Brown streets for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. Bail: $3,000.
— A 60-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 9:27 p.m. in the area of Stewart and Anderson streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, driving without a valid license and improper lane change. According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a man driving over a sidewalk and curb at the corner of Stewart and William streets. The officer initiated a traffic stop. The man provided a deputy with a Nevada ID card. He failed standardized field sobriety tests and gave a preliminary breath test of .171. At jail he provided evidentiary tests of .164 and .144. Bail: $1,416.
— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 7:23 a.m. in the 1900 block of H Street for two misdemeanor contempt of court warrants issued June 29, 2017. Bail amount for each warrant was $5,000.
A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 9:36 a.m. in the 2200 block of Sneddon Way for a misdemeanor warrant issued June 19, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
