Carson City traffic stop leads to arrests for meth trafficking, fourth DUI and credit card fraud

A traffic stop for speeding led to the arrest of four people Saturday night, including the driver for suspicion of drug trafficking and a fourth DUI, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team sergeant said.

Christine Racine, 37, of Martinez, Calif., was arrested in the 500 block of East William Street following a traffic stop where she was driving a vehicle that didn’t have license plates and was paced going 37 mph in a 25 mph zone on Carson Street, said Carson City Sheriff's Office SET Sgt. Daniel Gonzales. She faces charges of felony suspicion of drug trafficking, fourth DUI with a prior felony conviction, obtaining goods under false pretenses and other charges. Three men with her also faces criminal charges related to suspected credit card fraud. All four were on probation in California at the time of the arrests.

According to the arrest report, a deputy located 7.1 grams of methamphetamine on Racine’s person as well as a meth pipe. She agreed to submit to field sobriety tests and showed impairment on two of the tests. She stated she had used meth at around 4 p.m. that day and agreed to take a blood test, the arrest report states. A criminal history revealed she has been arrested and convicted for three DUIs and spent 60 months at Nevada State Prison.

Inside the vehicle officers located merchandise and also recovered nine credit cards with different card holder names on them. It was learned during the investigation that one card was used at three Home Depot locations, two in California with receipt amounts of $277.68 and $407.85 and one at the Home Depot store on Jacks Valley Road in Carson City with a receipt amount of $526.11. Numerous items from Home Depot were booked into evidence pending further investigation, according to the report.

He was found to have multiple stolen credit cards and a “slim jim” device that is used to open locked car doors, the arrest report states.

When a Solano County, Calif., probation card was found among the alleged stolen credit cards, Jones told deputies he had lied to him about his identity and was using his twin brother’s information, the arrest report states.
