NV Energy plan would cut bills by $2 a month for Northern Nevada residential customers
A Public Utilities Commission of Nevada telephonic consumer session will be held Thursday to discuss NV Energy rate reductions for customers. For Northern Nevada electric customers, the utility proposes to decrease rates an estimated $24.1 million or 3.47 percent across all rate classes, which would result in an estimated decrease in the average monthly residential bill of $2.09, or 2.92 percent.
The PUC session is to hear public comments regarding NV Energy’s applications to adjust deferred energy rates charged to customers. NV Energy filed deferred energy applications for its Southern Nevada electric operations and Northern Nevada electric and natural gas operations.
NV Energy’s deferred energy rate applications request the PUCN to approve its 2019 fuel and power expenses, and its proposed reset of rates to account for changes in costs related to renewable energy and energy efficiency programs.
NV Energy’s Northern Nevada natural gas application requests the PUCN to approve its 2019 natural gas expenses, and its proposed reset of all components of the Renewable Energy Program Rate to account for changes in costs.
For gas customers in Reno and Sparks, NV Energy proposes to increase rates an estimated $267,600 or 0.20 percent across all rate classes, which would result in an estimated increase in the average monthly residential bill of 8 cents, or 0.18 percent.
For Southern Nevada electric customers, NV Energy proposes to decrease rates an estimated $6.7 million or 0.33 percent across all rate classes, which would result in an estimated decrease in the average monthly residential bill of 40 cents, or 0.37 percent.
The consumer session is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2020, at 6 p.m. Live telephone conference: 1-877-820-7831. Use this access code for telephone conference: 668657.
