BAC, Carson City Access TV launch second annual Short Film Competition
The week-long City Wide Short Film Competition runs from noon Friday, July 25 to noon, Friday Aug. 1. Registration is required by 5 p.m. July 23. It is free to enter and participate.
Here's how it works: On Friday, July 25, filmmaking teams will pick a film genre and be given three "ingredients" that must be used in the film. These key references, ensures teams are all on a level playing field and avoids them getting an early start on their script or filming. Go here for rules, registration and details.
Participants will have one full week to write the script, film the actors, edit and get it to Carson City Access Television. Anything goes really, as long as it fits within the genre — drama, comedy, action, etc., — teams choose and the key reference ingredients get used.
Filmmakers a week to complete, burn and submit a DVD for the competition.
The hope is to get as many groups involved in a friendly competition with small prizes for the first year and then grow this competition every year, said Public Access TV Digital Arts Manager Darla Bayer.
Go here for more information. You can also register your team with Bayer at dbayer@bactv.org. Questions? Call Darla at (775) 830-7939.
