RSVP prepares to bring world class July 4 fireworks show to Carson City

UPDATE: With the July 4 holiday weekend approaching, Nevada Rural Counties RVSP is planning a spectacular fireworks celebration over Carson City to go along with its 22nd annual holiday carnival at Mills Park.

To mark Nevada’s Sesquicentennial Year, RSVP has contracted with Fireworks by Grucci to provide the best display Carson City has ever seen, said RSVP executive director and CEO Susan Haas. The pyrotechnic outfit holds the current Guinness World Record for a fireworks display in Dubai and has been the fireworks provider at seven presidential inaugurations, multiple Olympic opening ceremonies and many more amazing events.

The program will start with a three-hour radio show with Magic 95.5. Music will be patriotic to pop, with the fireworks show at dusk, typically around 9:15 p.m. The state-class pyrotechnical program in Carson City will be electronically fired from a computer-generated script featuring special Grucci-designed choreography between the music and fireworks.

The show will promote national pride with a synchronized, patriotic and pop music score and an array of powerful effects that will transform Nevada’s night sky into a glittering, celebratory showcase. Tune your radio to Magic 95.5 FM to experience the musical simulcast.

"We are honored to be able to produce the fireworks extravaganza in Carson City. Our nation’s Independence and Nevada’s statehood are surely cause for celebration,” says Haas. “We are so grateful for the support of this event received thus far especially from The Gold Dust West, Carson Nugget, Adele’s, NV Energy and Carson City Toyota-Scion who have generously donated to our fireworks fund to help make this spectacular event possible” said Haas.

Music will include: Spirit of America -Spirit of America Ensemble, America the Beautiful - Queen Latifah, Made in America - Toby Keith, America - Neil Diamond, God Bless the USA - Lee Greenwood, Happy - Pharell Williams, O America - Celtic Women, Diamonds In The Sky – Rihanna, Armed Service Medley - St. Louis Orchestra, Pink Houses (Ain't that America) - John Mellencamp, Girl on Fire - Alicia Keys, America's Song - Faith Hill & Company, Stars and Stripes - Sousa (with vocals).

RSVP depends solely on contributions to its Fireworks Fund in order to pay for the the display and is in need of contributors. It is looking for companies, local businesses, families and individual donations, said Haas. Local businesses are encouraged to donate as well and RSVP and will publically thank donors in online, print and radio.

RSVP provides services for Carson City seniors designed to assist them to remain independent and in their own homes with dignity. Programs include services such as escorted transportation, respite care for family caregivers, volunteer companions for frail, homebound seniors, resistance exercise training, homemaker services, pro-bono legal services, mobility management, personal emergency response systems, free Farmer’s Market coupons and more.

Checks should be made out to: RSVP FIREWORKS FUND and mailed to RSVP, PO Box 1708 Carson City, NV 89702. If everyone sends a small donation, RSVP could cover the cost very easily, said Haas. Contributions are tax deductible as RSVP is a 501(C) 3 non-profit service organization.
