Carson City church to host clothing drive for school children in July, donations sought
Clothing for school-aged children will be available free of charge or obligation and open to the public on Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. until noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church located at 411 N. Saliman Road, Carson City, located south of Carson High School.
The Relief Society, a local women’s service organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is hosting the eleventh annual clothing drive to assist families in Carson City and surrounding communities to obtain clothes for school.
Linda Forbes, President of the local Relief Society organization said the annual event provides gently used clothing free of charge. The event focuses on school-aged children Kindergarten to Grade 12. “We invite families to pick up free clothing for all age groups to prepare for school,” said Forbes.
For community members who would like to help, contributions of new or clean, gently used clothing for children will be gratefully accepted (please no undergarments). Clothing donations may be dropped off on Friday, July 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at 411 N. Saliman Road, Carson City, Nev.
“For eleven consecutive years our goal is to help reduce the stress parents’ face in getting their children ready for the coming school year,” said David Haws, President of the Carson City Nevada Stake, The Church’s local organization.
Providing service to others is a core belief of following the example of Jesus Christ. This is a non-denominational event open to the public.
