Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through June 22
Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of June 16-22, 2014. Vista Grande Boulevard will continue to be closed from Topsy Lane to Old Clear Creek Road with a signed detour. There will also be intermittent delays on Old Clear Creek Road near the intersection with Vista Grande Boulevard.
There will be a lane shift on Northridge Drive and the sidewalk will be closed on the north side of the street near the intersection with Roop Street from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
There will be a lane shift on Silver Sage Drive between Sonoma Street and Pat Lane and the sidewalk on the east side of the street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
The westbound lane on Gordon Street and the southbound lane on N. Edmonds Drive will be closed at the intersection of those two streets from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will be flagger controlled traffic with minor delays possible.
There will be street shoulder work on weekdays on Red’s Grade, Combs Canyon Road, and Meadow Wood Road in the Lakeview area. Minor delays possible.
There will be road closures in Downtown Carson City on Saturday, June 21, for the Taste of Downtown event. Road closures will occur between 10 a.m. on June 21 and at 1 a.m. on June 22. The following streets will be affected:
- Curry Street from King Street to Spear Street 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Telegraph Street from Carson Street to Nevada Street 1 pm to 1 a.m.
- Proctor Street from Carson Street to Curry Street 1 p.m. to 1 a.m.
- Proctor Street from Carson Street to Plaza Street 10 a.m to 11 p.m.
- Musser Street from carson Street to Nevada Street 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Second Street from Carson Street to Curry Street 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Third Street from Carson Street to Curry Street 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Fourth Street from Carson Street to Curry Street 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Beginning Sunday, June 22, at 6 p.m., Fairview Drive will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction between Carson Street and Roop Street. Construction activity is scheduled through 6 a.m. the following Monday morning.
Currently underway, is a $6 million repave and restripe Nevada Department of Transportation project from Highway 50 from Arrowhead Drive in east Carson City to one mile east of the State Route 341 to the Virginia City intersection.
The majority of the construction work will take place during nighttime hours, with construction-related single lane closures and delays to be expected. Construction is scheduled to complete in the fall.
In Douglas County, work continues now through October on the Kingsbury Grade project along State Route 207 between Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe. The road is open with night work Sundays through Fridays, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be single lane closures at night and intermittently during the day through the duration of the project, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
Elsewhere around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra from June 15-20: State Route 89 (Placer County) from the "Y" to Alpine Meadows Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from midnight to 8 a.m. Monday and 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday for drainage work.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $20 million water-quality project from 0.1 mile north of the Eagle Falls Sidehill Viaduct No. 5 in Emerald Bay to the Meeks Creek Bridge in Meeks Bay. This project is adding new drainage features, curb and gutter, and resurfacing a nearly 7-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2015.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Meeks Creek to Sierra Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for drainage work. Also, from Scenic Drive to 3 Ring Road, motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 10 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday for drainage work.
State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.
State Route 28 (Placer County) from Coon Street to Chipmunk Street: Westbound motorists can expect the No. 1 lane and right shoulder closed around the clock from midnight Monday to noon Friday for utility work. Eastbound motorists can expect intermittent lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday for highway construction.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in South Lake Tahoe: Work continues on a $12.1 million water-quality and roadway improvement project from the "Y" intersection of Highways 50 and 89 to the South Lake Tahoe Airport adding curb and gutter, sidewalks, new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected this fall.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from South Lake Tahoe Airport Road to F Street: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the No. 1 lane closed from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday for roadway excavation.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) through Meyers: Work continues on a $15.3 million water-quality project from Johnson Pass Road to Incline Road in Meyers to install new drainage systems, widen shoulders and add bike lanes in one section, and restore a section of the exiting bike path.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Johnson Pass Road to Sawmill Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to noon Friday for drainage work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in Pollock Pines: Work continues on a $7.67 million project to replace the bridge over Sly Park Road. The project will also add sidewalks to both sides of Sly Park Road, curb and gutter and curb ramps. Completion is expected this fall. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on an $18.5 million project by El Dorado County to reconstruct the U.S. Highway 50 ramps to El Dorado Hills Boulevard and Latrobe Road in El Dorado Hills. Completion is expected this fall. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project by El Dorado County to construct a new overcrossing over U.S. Highway 50, new on- and off-ramps with signalized intersections, and new bicycle and pedestrian facilities at Silva Valley Parkway in El Dorado Hills.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Ryan Drive to Commerce Way in Diamond Springs: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday for electrical work.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Pedro Hill Road to Meadow View Acres Road in Pilot Hill: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday for roadway excavation.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from the junction with State Route 193 in Cool to Jeep Trail: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday for roadway excavation.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Bliss Memorial State Park to Sidehill Viaduct #5 in Emerald Bay: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for maintenance work.
State Route 89 (Nevada County) from Prosser Dam Road/Alder Drive to Alder Creek Road in Truckee: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for maintenance.
State Route 89 (Placer/Nevada Counties) from West River Street to Donner Creek in Truckee: Motorists can expect the #2 lane closes from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to noon Friday for utility work.
State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from the State Route 49 junction in Cool to American River Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday for roadway excavation.
