One dead, one arrested in fatal morning crash that shut down Highway 50 near Lake Tahoe
UPDATE 12:32PM Both lanes of Highway 50 are now open for travel following Thursday morning's fatal crash involving two pickups. One person is in custody. Impairment is suspected, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

UPDATE 9:21AM: One person has been arrested and impairment is suspected in a fatal crash that happened Thursday morning near Round Hill at Lake Tahoe, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. One person died in the crash that happened at around 7 a.m. The crash involved two pickups, with one of the vehicles hauling a trailer. There is around 150 feet of debris scattered across the entirety of the highway. Highway 50 remains closed.

The Nevada Highway Patrol closed Highway 50 West Thursday morning due to a fatal vehicle crash near Round Hill in Douglas County at Lake Tahoe. Lanes are closed in both directions between Zephyr Cove and Elk Point. NHP says expect delays and avoid the area.
Motorists are urged to use State Route 207 over Kingsbury Grade.
At least one confirmed fatality in the crash, reported to NHP at 7:04 a.m. The cause is under investigation. We will update as more information becomes available.
